Not wanting to rehash the previous film, Spera left and was replaced by. Saw the films mainly for curiosity to see whether they would be guilty pleasures or deserving of their dubious reputation. On the other hand, the rest of the cast is very poor, with insufferably bland leads and an assortment of irritating supporting roles. Three young rap artists are looking for a break. He is both amusing and grotesquely creepy, doing the best he can, successfully, with an again goofy look, some terrible lines though actually they are better than the ones he is given in the previous film and less than tasteful horror which must have been hard to do and shows how conscientious and talented he is. Because without the medallion, the statue transforms into the Leprechaun, who goes on a killing spree looking for his missing gold, once again! Having gratuitous gore was not enough to cover up for the complete lack of scares and suspense, nothing bit my nails, nothing made my heart pound or skip, nothing made my palms or forehead sweat, nothing made me jump. There are sporadically mildly amusing moments that don't come anywhere near enough. They need money to buy some music equipment so they can go to Las Vegas and enter a contest. The dialogue is repetitive and childish, very little of it is amusing let alone funny, and the humour and whimsicality are forced. The Leprechaun seems much more evil in this one and no longer rhymes but he is still the reason to watch the movie. It's not just because it is so intelligence insultingly dumb, excessively predictable and unintentionally comical, but the story, while picking up a little in the second half, is very thin with a very dull first half. Saw the sequels as a franchise completest just in case why anybody is wondering why if the first film didn't it for me why the rest of the films were watched too. This movie will most probably spawn another sequel which will have to live up to this ones expectations. It has some very funny scenes and is one of the best Leprechaun movies out there.
