The low sprag low roller clutch actually causes first gear when only the forward clutches are applied. Be sure there are no leaks from the lip seals. Step 5 Lift the sun shell out of the case; it should slide off with little effort. Be sure it is smooth. If you are performing a stock rebuild, always use the stock gaskets. One would think that some of these tools were made of Platinum Well, have a great weekend! Forward drum procedures are almost identical.
Once you have the piston seated in the drum you can install the return springs and retainer. Intermediate Clutch Pack Installation Step 1: Install the intermediate clutch pack into the case. A notch references the location of the steel in the case, even though they only install one way. Step 12: Tighten the pump bolts with a spin-handle or ratchet and socket and torque to 15 ft-lbs. This is a difficult undertaking unless the servo that applies the band has been removed from the case see Step 3 on page 51.
Now you drop the input ring gear on, spinning into place. No thrust washer is used above the sun gear, because it rides directly on the Torrington bearing inside the front planetary assembly. Used on 208 transfer case with adapter. Temperature programming in the three ranges T1, T2, T3. The head of the bolt can be slotted so a screwdrive can be used. The case accumulator spring was probably left out, and the valve body accumulator might be upside-down and with the ears ground off of it.
Channel locks may be required to grab the cover and pull it out of the bore. I typically like to have a teardown bench and an assembly bench, but at the moment I just have the one. Check for excessive output end play. Step 3: Install the inner seal with the lip facing toward the gear. Step 3 Using a slide hammer, shock the pump loose from the case. Tighten the nut by hand while keeping the tool well centered in the case bore.
Only plug this hole if you plan on building a unit yourself. It has good pictures, alot of good info, but has some outdated info. Thrust Washer and Sealing Rings Installation Step 1: Install any shims that were removed from under the pump thrust washer. Each time buttons are pressed the numbers on the display decrease or increase by one. Inspect for wear where it has been spinning in the pump bushing. Step 3 Loosen the four bolts that hold the tail housing in place. Use a lip seal tool to install the apply piston into the housing; make sure it is fully seated and turns freely.
The stock thrust washer was probably plastic; the replacement should be metal. Step 4: Install the pump sealing rings. Step 5 Use a small screwdriver to depress the end of the speed-ometer drive gear retainer. Notice the machining of passages. It is in a blind hole on the upper end and snaps into a groove on the lower end.
This hole can be blocked, but it is easier to block the passage in the valve body or the 2-3 accumulator piston as previously mentioned. This is located on right side of trans case Right side of T-350 case. Intermediate Roller Clutch Assembly Installation Step 1: Place the intermediate roller clutch assembly on the direct drum; line up the rollers with the notches on the drum. Your risk from exposure to these chemicals varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. This allows reverse when applied simultaneously with the direct high gear clutches, and allows manual low gear when applied with the forward clutches.
You do so by applying pressurized air to the passage at the rear pan area of the worm casting in the case. Step 2: Turn the direct drum over and check the intermediate sprag clutch or roller clutch assembly. Then press button 0÷23 to go to the next hour and select the desired temperature in the same way fig. Output Shaft Front Bushing Removal and Replacement Step 1: Clamp the output shaft in a vise with soft jaws. Even firmer shifts can be accomplished with check ball removal and modifications to the accumulators. Step 4: Clean all of the pump parts and place them on a clean surface.
Start with the thick factory backing plate. If you do not get complete engagement, the input shaft will not turn when you install the pump and begin to tighten it. Manual low gear creates engine braking on deceleration. Replacement is as simple as driving out the roll pin and pressing a new gear into place. Step 2: Remove the 2-3 accumulator and spring from the valve body.
